Ghana Cricket Association Continues Development of Cricket to Over 1,700 Students at Achimota School

The Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) commenced a class-based intro and coaching clinic at Achimota School, engaging 31 classes with a total of over 1,705 students, both male and female. The program, which commenced on Monday, August 11, 2025, aims to promote cricket development among young students and identify potential talent.

The initiative is part of the GCA’s efforts to grow the sport in Ghana, building on the country’s cricket infrastructure development. Notably, the Achimota Cricket Oval has undergone significant upgrades, including the construction of turf wickets, a departure from the traditional AstroTurf pitches used in Ghanaian cricket.

Objectives of the Coaching Clinic

  • Introduce students to the fundamental skills of cricket
  • Develop a passion for the sport among young participants
  • Identify and nurture potential cricket talent

Program Structure

The coaching clinic, which concludes today, August 22, 2025, features a structured program designed to cater to the needs of beginner students. Experienced coaches will guide the students through various aspects of the game, including batting, bowling, and fielding.

By investing in grassroots cricket development, the GCA is laying the foundation for a brighter future for the sport in Ghana.
