Mr. Oscar Provencal began his cricket-playing career over 4 decades ago as a schoolboy in the United Kingdom. Upon his return to Ghana in the early 80s, he continued following his passion, inspired by his uncle, Mr. Joel Hyde (late), who was incidentally the then captain of the Senior National Cricket Team. Mr. Provencal’s passion for the sport saw him rising up the ranks from a senior national team player, where he eventually became vice captain. Subsequently he was elected as an executive board member of the Ghana Cricket Association (2013-2017), and in 2018, Mr. Provencal was elected as the vice president of the Ghana Cricket Association (GCA), a position he holds to this day. He recently served as the local tournament director for the 2023 Africa Games, where cricket was played for the first time in the history of the games. He currently serves as the chair of the Technical and Media Committees of the Ghana Cricket Association (GCA).

Mr. Oscar Provencal has served in various capacities in organizations and on the boards of both private and public institutions. He has a corporate governance background in public relations, marketing, strategic planning, business operations, and behavioral change communications (BCC). In his capacity as National Public Relations Officer and one-time Head of Marketing, he contributed immensely to making Zoomlion Ghana Ltd. become a household brand name in Ghana and the largest waste management company in Africa.

Oscar is an acclaimed practitioner in the film, arts, culture, entertainment, advertising, broadcast, and media landscape in Ghana. His illustrious career spans over four decades, and he has served in several positions, such as the first executive welfare officer of the Ghana Actors Guild (1996-2002), board member of the Copyright Society of Ghana (2000-2006), chairman of the Constitution Review Committee, and currently the spokesperson for the president of the Ghana Actors Guild.

Mr. Provencal is an independent film & TV producer, director, and voice-over artist. He is popularly known as ‘Inspector Bediako’ for the role he played in the iconic television detective series produced in the early 90s and has performed in international films such as the award-winning Deadly Voyage, EGOLI (Place of Gold), Killing Zone, and Bigman Wahala (Netflix).
